The Ministry of Public Works and Housing of Indonesia (MPWH) and the Asia Water Council (AWC) are deeply honored to invite you to the 2nd Asia International Water Week (AIWW) on 14-16 March 2022 at Meruorah Komodo in Labuan Bajo, Indonesia.

 

The 2nd AIWW is a triennial water conference that invites Heads of States, Water and Environment Ministers, Water Experts, Young Professionals and the Public around the world to address the urgency of solving water problems in Asia; to seek potential water project opportunities; to strengthen public-private partnership; and to accelerate global water action.

 

Building water resilience in Asia will dedicate to achieving social and economic development in the region while enhancing human rights to water and sanitation. Furthermore, sustainable water resources management will facilitate the SDG implementation as water cuts across the social, environmental and economic pursuits set out in the SDGs.

 

We believe your active support and participation in the 2nd AIWW will bolster our collective efforts to meet the 2030 Agenda and achieve the SDGs in Asia and beyond. With all our heart, we cordially look forward to welcoming you to Indonesia in March 2022.

  3. Participants should make a payment to the 2nd AIWW Account by selecting preferred currency (USD or IDR)

2nd AIWW’s Flagship Programs

 
  1. Opening & Asia to World Statement (14 March 2022)

  • The Opening Ceremony will extend the hospitality of Indonesia with its unique cultural performance by welcoming the head of states, ministers, parliamentarians, international organizations, experts, civil societies and the public who are gathered to seek solutions for water issues in Asia.

 
  • Asia to Water Statement is the commitment among the various water organizations from Asia which is based on the common perception of water as a critical and limited resource for human beings, therefore, it is necessary to preserve through inter-governmental and mutual cooperation. The Asia to World Statement consists of the clauses that include key messages from each country and organization in order to enhance water welfare of the region.

 
  1. Asia Water Issue (14-15 Mar 2022)

Under the 6 main topics consisting of 24 sub-themes which are mostly relevant to the issues raised by the UN SDGs implementation and key agreement, participants will share their knowledge and experience, best practices and innovative policy and technical solutions to gain insights and find tangible solutions to tackle water problems in the local context.

  1. Water Project Business Forum (14 March 2022)

To promote development of concrete water projects, serving as a business platform between multi-stakeholders including governments, water enterprises. WPBF platform is to share various water issues and project plans of Asian countries and to introduce the relevant project experiences of the industry. This event includes introduction of water issues and projects, and will be further facilitated through G2B meetings.

 
  1. Asia Water Ministers Meeting (14 March 2022)

To share concrete action plans to accomplish the commitments in the ‘Asia to World - Ministerial Statement’ and strengthen cooperation to resolve water issues in Asia at the ministerial level to accelerate achieving SDGs and Paris Agreement (NDCs)

 
  1. Plenary Sessions (14-15 March 2022)

  • Plenary 1 (Mar 14) : Smart Eco-City in New Capital

To share developing & enhancing water resources in the New Capital City of Indonesia, East Kalimantan, Borneo island by addressing smart water management, digital transformation and green energy that will contribute to achieve carbon neutralization and a sustainable new capital city.

 
  • Plenary 2 (Mar 15) : Linkage between the 2nd AIWW and the 9th World Water Forum

To deliver the outcome of the 2nd AIWW to the 9th WWForum by joining thematic sessions, political and regional process of the forum and organizing special sessions related to Asian water issues.

 
  1. Special Sessions (14-15 March 2022)

8 Special Sessions will be organized by AWC members, Partners and International Organizations to address key water issues related to policy, finance, governance, gender, youth, transboundary cooperation, Green ODA and capacity building.

 
  1. EXPO and Fair (14-16 March 2022)

To showcase innovative and adaptable water technologies from water industries and have business meetings between participating countries and companies to seek cooperative water

projects that can reduce water challenges

  • (Virtual) Virtual Exhibition is available at the 2nd AIWW Website



 

COVID-19 Update

 

The safety of our participants is the top priority of the 2nd Asia International Water Week, therefore, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing of Indonesia has been closely cooperating with the COVID-19 relevant ministries and government agencies to accommodate the 2nd AIWW participants in a safe manner.

 

More detailed guidelines for physical participants will be released soon.
